At This Moment

1. What will I be loving five minutes from now?
My heart is quite fickle,
It does not endure.
I only know this moment,
That Lord I love You
And this by Your own love, consistent and true.

I only know that at this moment I really love You,
And pray that my whole life be wasted on You.

2. What will I be thinking five minutes from now?
My mind is prone to wander;
Keeps drifting away,
I only know this moment,
I’m held, so secure.
By Your life I’m anchored, fixed firmly, and sure

3. What will I be seeing five minutes from now,
That distracts me from You,
And occupies me?
I only know this moment,
You are my one view,
Lord, keep my gaze, keep me stayed, focused on You.

Background: The Lord’s Table meeting was very precious, and our love to our Lord so sweet. Towards the end, a sister shared what she was feeling within her. Her fellowship became the basis for this song.
She shared how, at this very moment, she just loved the Lord so much, but what her feelings would be like in five minutes from now, she didn’t know. Where would her heart be? What would she be thinking about? What would distract her, she didn’t know. All she knew was at this moment, she just loved the Lord! When she spoke, I was so touched. I felt that she spoke for all of us, certainly for me.
